One desperate fugitive. One determined police officer. One final stop. Tickets for The Last Stop, the story of Ted Bundy’s final capture and the Pensacola officer who defeated him, go on sale September 15.

Sixty-one days from today, we will gather inside Pensacola’s historic Museum of Commerce to open the case on one of the most consequential encounters in our city’s history.
Tickets for The Last Stop: The Final Capture of Ted Bundy—and the Officer Who Fought and Defeated Him go on sale Tuesday, September 15.
One Desperate Fugitive. One Determined Police Officer. One Final Stop.
During the early morning hours of February 15, 1978, Pensacola Police Officer David Lee noticed a suspicious Volkswagen near Oscar’s Restaurant—a Pensacola landmark remembered by generations of local residents.
The car had been stolen. Its driver was wanted.
Lee attempted to make an arrest, but the fugitive violently resisted and tried to seize the officer’s gun. At that moment, the encounter became a fight for survival. Lee fought back and overpowered his attacker. When the man broke free and ran, Lee pursued him and defeated him again.
Only afterward would Pensacola learn the name of the man Lee had captured:
Theodore Robert Bundy.
Bundy had escaped from authorities twice, crossed the country and eluded a nationwide manhunt. Then he reached Pensacola and encountered a patrol officer who would have none of it.
Wrong town, Ted.
This Is David Lee’s Story
Popular culture has too often portrayed Bundy as handsome, brilliant and almost superhuman. He was none of those things that mattered. He was a coward who preyed upon vulnerable and unsuspecting victims.
The Last Stop places the attention where it belongs: upon Officer David Lee, whose awareness, courage and bulldog determination brought Bundy’s final hours of freedom to an end.
Lee did not know the identity of the man inside that stolen Volkswagen. He simply recognized that something was wrong, acted upon it and refused to let a dangerous man escape.
His victory may have saved countless lives.
