The murder of Escambia County (FL) deputy Jeremy Cassady

End of Watch: July 15, 2025

All he ever wanted to be was a law enforcement officer, just like his father, Henry.

On October 29, 2010, Jackie Rosenbloom was at her home in the Northwoods neighborhood with her daughter and grandson when she heard a knock on the door. It was her ex-boyfriend, Philip Monier. When she refused to let him in, he forced his way in. Jackie and the girls barricaded themselves in a bedroom and called 911. Monier came in and took Jackie hostage.

Escambia County Deputies Jeremy Cassady, Sam Parker, and Chad Brown responded. When they arrived, they heard a woman screaming. They entered the house and were immediately met with gunfire by Monier, who was using Rosenbloom as a human shield. All three deputies were hit but returned fire.

The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. All three deputies were rushed to the hospital, where it was determined that Jeremy Cassady was in critical condition. He was put into a medically induced coma. Among other injuries, his kidneys and pancreas were destroyed. He fought through the coming days, regaining consciousness, but was never the same. He was forced to medically retire in 2012, the same year that Monier was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences.

Jeremy died from his injuries on July 15, 2025.

Rest in Peace, Brother.

  5. I am so sorry to hear this. So his father and my father were police officers together. I was talking to my husband today about Jeremy’s passing and I remember it like it was yesterday. I actually used to clean Jerilyn’s house, and on the day it happened. I went back to her house to take care of her sweet, sweet puppy while they stayed at the hospital. Very sad day then and a very sad day now my prayers are with you and your family. May he rest in peace
