On February 15, 1978, Ted Bundy came to Pensacola in a stolen Volkswagen.
He left in the back of a police car.
That is the Pensacola story behind a shirt we’ll have available at our November 12 Sweet Tea Murders LIVE event. It’s Sweet Tea Murders orange, with our logo across the front. The back reads:
February 15, 1978
Ted Bundy came to Pensacola in a stolen Volkswagen
He left in the back of a police car.
Wrong Town Ted

“Wrong Town Ted” is about the end of his flight. It recalls what Officer David Lee did on an ordinary patrol that became an extraordinary moment in Pensacola history. It also reminds us that the people harmed by Bundy matter far more than the image he cultivated.
The shirts will be available for purchase at The Last Stop: The Final Capture of Ted Bundy on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Museum of Commerce. The Lead Investigator tickets have sold out, and 12 General Admission tickets remain as of this post. Hurry! They are going fast!
I’d love to hear your thoughts: What should Pensacola remember most about the night Bundy was captured?
