John Wesley Hardin is infamous for his murders in Texas and Kansas, but many don’t know he lived in Pollard, Alabama, & moved throughout the county as well as Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties in Florida for more than two years under the alias of John Swain. He tried to maintain a businessman/family man persona, but the old Hardin came out in him during that time, including at least two run-ins with the law. When he realized that he had finally walked into the trap in Pensacola in 1877, he instinctively went for the old stand-by…his gun.
