Sweet Tea Murders Walking Tour: Crimes Around the Plaza

Pensacola is one of America’s oldest cities, and around Plaza Ferdinand, the past does not sit quietly.

On Thursday, July 9, at 6:00 PM, join Sweet Tea Murders for its first walking tour: Crimes Around the Plaza, a short but unforgettable half-mile walk through the historic heart of downtown Pensacola.

We will meet at the Plaza Ferdinand fountain, then make our way around the plaza as five fascinating murder stories unfold — stories that span more than a century, from 1833 to 1940. These are not distant legends or ghost stories. They are real cases, real people, and real places, told where history actually happened.

The tour will be led by Michael Earl Simmons, a retired police officer, former homicide detective, police historian, author, and master storyteller. With the eye of an investigator and the voice of a Southern storyteller, Michael will guide guests through old Pensacola’s darker corners — where politics, jealousy, violence, justice, and mystery once crossed paths in the streets surrounding the plaza.

The walk is short, but the stories are deep.
